Hearing Tests for Children
As children grow and develop their capability to perform a hearing test evolves. Naturally a newborn of infant cannot co-operate in a conventional manner to test sounds so the Audiologist needs to apply different methods to obtain information regarding their hearing ability. At around three years of age, a child can usually be trained to perform play audiometry, but if not quite ready for this, then our puppet theatre is then employed. This age group generally do not like headphones, so testing is performed in a Sound Field, to obttain hearing test results without headphones. This, in combination with objective measures, enable to Audiologist to determine a picture as the hearing status of your child.
As hearing is critical for speech and language development as well as learning we recommend you do not delay organizing a hearing evaluation. Please feel free to use the links on this web page to “Contact us” for further information or “Book Appointment” to request a preferred time.
